Jonas Bille


Everything I do is dedicated to strengthening Danish and Scandinavian music life.
My work includes classical and contemporary music publishing, teaching, and cultural leadership. I support composers and musicians, their repertoire, and the institutions that carry them, working to create new opportunities

I am Head of Classical at Edition Wilhelm Hansen and Vice Chair of the board of Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen. I am an appointed external examiner for musicology, music education and music therapy under the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Research.

Before moving into music publishing, I spent 14 years at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, ultimately as Head of Studies and Director of Education and Quality Assurance, and member of the management team. I have taught arts management and cultural leadership at the University of Copenhagen.

What I do

Music & Repertoire

I love exploring new repertoire within classical and contemporary music, supporting composers, and finding ways for their music to reach audiences. With experience in publishing and promotion, I enjoy helping Danish music grow at home while also making an impact abroad.

Advisory & Leadership

I care about building sustainable institutions with a clear vision. In my board and advisory work, I draw on experience from both publicly governed and private organisations, using what I know about organisation, resources, and music business to support strategy and artistic growth.

Teaching & Mentorship

Sharing knowledge and supporting others is an important part of what I do. I teach music and arts management covering everything from cultural policy and leadership to the realities of today’s music world. I also mentor composers, students, and professionals, helping them shape sustainable careers.
